Environmental & Animal Health
We frequently act for landholders, appealing against public nuisance abatement notices and facing prosecution under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. We also act for owners and managers of livestock, providing advice and representation in relation to animal tagging and movement records.

Animal Welfare
We are well-known for defending animal welfare and related proceedings, such as prosecutions under Farm Animal Welfare Codes and the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, for clients throughout England and Wales. Typically, we act for individuals in the agricultural sector, but also for a variety of defendants from circuses to individual pet-owners. These proceedings are brought principally by the RSPCA and are frequently defended against a background of media interest.

Regulatory – Financial Services
We act for businesses and individuals regulated by the Financial Services Authority in relation to regulatory investigations under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and investigations and prosecutions by the Crown Prosecution Service under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

Regulatory - Disciplinary
Our regulatory practice includes provision of advice and representation for clients before disciplinary bodies and also advising clients who discharge disciplinary functions. We have particular expertise in this area in the equestrian and sporting sectors, as well as representing vets and farriers in professional disciplinary proceedings.

Firearms

As solicitors for the National Rifle Association and National Small-bore Rifle Association, we act for firearms licence-holders in appeals against revocation or variation in licences to hold firearms, including shotguns. We also act for individuals and business, such as licensed firearms dealers, in prosecutions brought under the Firearms Act 1968.

Public order & Offences against the person
Our criminal practice encompasses a wide variety of legal areas. In the context of political demonstrations, we have experience of defending prosecutions under the Public Order Act 1986. We also act for defendants accused of offences against the person, in particular in the context of country sports.
